In the spring of 2025, David Sheret lost his father, his friend and his dog within six weeks. At the funeral, someone heard a poem he had written years earlier and said it should become a song. That single remark became the starting point for everything that followed.

Grief does not ask permission. It arrives and it stays. The question is what you do with it. David chose to channel it. Not into retreat, but into something that could carry the weight of what he had lost and turn it outward, towards others, towards Scotland, towards communities that could use the help.

Finn Moray was built on a simple idea. Write songs about Scotland's places and people. Find talented singers with real connections to those places. Give 50% of net profits back to Scottish community, cultural and charitable causes. Not as a gesture. As a structure. A social compact, built into the foundation of the project from the very first day.

"This is not a charity. It is a compact. A creative project with a social promise built into its structure."

Within twelve months, that idea became a fifteen-song album. AON: THE CALL was written, produced with a two-time Latin Grammy winning producer in Buenos Aires, and launched on CD, vinyl and digital download. It tells the stories of Aberchirder, Lerwick, Dunbeath, Yetholm, Cumbernauld, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Ayr, Inverness and more. Each song is rooted in a real place and a real connection.

Then came AON: THE GATHERING. The same songs, but now sung by people from Scotland, singing about places and people they know. Adele Henderson from Aberchirder. Rhuaridh McHardy from Netherley. Lisa Manson from Lerwick. Terry McDermott from Aberdeen. Eilidh Harper from Dunbeath. Each artist brings their own story, their own connection, their own reason for being part of this.

The giving has already started. Since January 2026, Finn Moray has supported causes including the MUGA Project in Aberchirder, Beatson Cancer Charity, Reverse Rett, Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre, Cornerstone, Friends of ANCHOR, SAMH, the Paul Lawrie Foundation, Shetland Young Farmers, CEO Sleepout Aberdeen, Stirling Albion FC, AFC Community Trust, Dunbeath Heritage Centre, Grampian Hospital Radio and Young Lives vs Cancer. Sixteen good causes in the first four months. That is not aspiration. That is action.

It started with loss. It continues with purpose.
